#TheShowMustBePaused

Hell yes, Black Lives Matter! We should not need to say this anymore. Damn straight they fucking matter. This shit-show needs to be shut down.

The police need to be demilitarized and held accountable for their performance by the citizens they are supposed to protect. The president needs to be removed from office for dereliction of duty and abdicating his responsibilities. He should be tried in court for the many crimes he has committed that have resulted in a massive loss of lives and the defrauding of American citizens and businesses for the profit of a small group of larger corporations and friends of the Trump organization during the worst health crisis faced by the world in a century.

Wow Cool is joining many others in the music industry and beyond today to speak out with one voice that this has to end. The show is paused, but this is not a day off. Spend as much time as you can Tuesday looking around you at what is going on; reaching out and communicating with your community; and, helping out those who have been affected by this multitude of plagues that afflict us however you can. Think about how you can contribute to unravelling this warped country, and act on a plan. Share that with others. Let’s move forward as a society and not give in to hate and fear.

Update — This is a note I posted on social media on Tuesday afternoon:
Like a lot of people, I spent part of last night and this morning watching in wonder and confusion as the #TheShowMustBePaused adhoc effort today turned into many strange but sort of similar efforts. There were certainly a lot of black squares. While it was inspiring to see something like this grow so quickly it was depressing to see how far it moved away from the original idea. There were even lists of “rules” posted that seemed to have nothing to do with the original intent. Further commentary in this story by Peter Kirn on CDM.
