Gone were the opening act for Black Flag’s entire 1986 tour, which lasted for the first six months of the year. On a typical day during the tour, Gone would perform one set at an in-store appearance, then go down to the venue where Black Flag were headlining, set up, and open the show. Ginn’s only break in the evening would be when the second opening band, Painted Willie performed; he would then get onstage with Black Flag and play a 90-minute set. Bassist Andrew Weiss and drummer Sim Cain would shortly after become the rhythm section of the Rollins Band and both would later work with Ween, Weiss in particular, being their producer for many years.

Sometimes when you send your negatives in to be digitized the ‘dust and scratches’ checkbox on the order form seems to indicate that you want to add more of that. I actually have far worse examples. Looking at these again years later, they look like I must have used the negative strips as shoe liners or a spare belt. When they were shot I may have already started rolling my own reels of negative film. I certainly developed these myself. I likely used crusty high school photo lab equipment, which was the old metal style. Yet, these get pretty extreme. Some, not so much. Long ago I embraced a process philosophy towards visual art. Anything that happens to it along the way is part of what you get at the end. As the saying goes, ‘it’s not the years, it’s the mileage.’ My opinion on audio and video are far different. There, I try to achieve the highest fidelity to the original event being recorded. In static imagery it is all scratch and dent.  24-hour punk rock garage sale territory.  Share and Enjoy. Give me credit if you use these somewhere. Thanks.
