A young man comes across a businessman, lying in the street, begging for a drink. Immediately discerning that the man needs a different kind of help, perhaps medical, the young man goes to seek it. But does he find a doctor? Or something more? And why is it that his search seems to take him into his own past, a world that includes high school cheerleaders, bullies, and teachers? What is the relevance of a huge, tethered parade balloon? And will he ultimately be able to help the man in street?
This bizarre story, rich with metaphors and symbolism, was originally presented in serial form in “The Stranger” and “The Philadelphia Weekly.” Written and drawn by James Sturm, published in black-and-white by Fantagraphics Books.
