When she is grown her mother makes her venture into the dark forest on her own, where she encounters a loving ogre, sirens, and a man without a face... all while trying to discover herself and grow into a woman. Interspersed with stories of her relationship with her father, Canopy is a fantastic fable told with Karine Bernadou's amazing cartoon pantomime style. Shortlisted for the 2017 Cartoonist Studio Prize, and nominated for a 2017 DINKy Award and a 2017 Ignatz Award.
Born in Montpellier, France, Karine Bernadou studied graphic design for four years at the Olivier de Serres school in Paris. After graduation, she created the magazine "Desseins" with Lucile Gomez. In 2006, she won the "Young Talent" contest at the Angoulême Festival. Her work has been published in "Bang", "Ferraille illustré", and "Fluide Glacial". In addition to her work as a comic book author, she also works as an illustrator for the adult press (Bakchich, CQFD, Vivre) and children (Astrapi, Philoteo, Okapi, Zaza Mimosa, editions Milan, editions Bayard, Syros, Litho), and many more.
