Buddy takes a deep look at his physical well-being but decides a drink and some billiards are the way to go, after all happy man is a healthy man. It's 'Hate at First Sight' when he meets Val. Buddy finds himself intrigued, smitten, enraged, cowed, and ultimately bedded (in the hospital!) by the quite attractive but weird and headstrong Val.
