Highlight: kuš! komikss – the best small press comics publisher you don’t know about

Yesterday we received a massive spring shipment from acclaimed international small press publisher kuš! (said “koosh!”). The comics art publisher from Latvia was founded in 2007 in Riga. Since then, kuš! has provided a platform for up-and-coming cartoonists from all over the world for the past decade and has helped those creators reach markets that were other inaccessible. They also have released works by well-known alternative comics creators including Michael DeForge, Lala Albert, Theo Ellsworth, GG, Roman Muradov, Inés Estrada, Gareth Brookes, Noah Van Sciver, Simon Moreton, Alabaster Pizzo, and Jesse Jacobs.

Every issue of the anthology š! contains comics from international and Latvian artists to a certain theme which changes every issue.  š! #26: daDa was a 2017 Eisner Nominee for ‘Best Anthology’. They also publish solo minicomics and graphic novels as part of their mini kuš! and mono kuš! series.

Our favorites include Jesse Jacob’s Mathematical Solutions for a Global Crisis, Roman Muradov’s new Resident Lover,  Noah Van Sciver’s His Last Comic and a plethora of comics from previously-unknown-to-us international creators across Europe and Mexico — like France’s Samplerman and Mexico’s Abraham Díaz.
