On the 22nd of October, 2011 Iain Sinclair and Alan Moore staged “An English Journey Re-imagined” at the Barbican in London. They were joined by musicians Susan Stenger and F. M. Einheit and artist Graham Dolphin. The English Journey they were re-imaginining was that of JB Priestley.

The project started at Faster Than Sound in Aldeburgh with a collaboration between Sinclair, Moore and song collector Shirley Collins, composer/musician Susan Stenger and F. M. Einheit and visual artist Graham Dolphin, to communicate a special journey through the Suffolk countryside.

English Journey had previously been re-imagined by that Dame of English literature Beryl Bainbridge in English Journey: Or the Road to Milton Keynes (read a review of that here).

I invite you to enjoy this playlist of fragments that exist online of the documentation of this event (above), and I wish that there was some more complete document of the project. Anyone who may have such an artifact, please contact me care of this blog.

In the meanwhile, you are invited to peruse Wow Cool’s Alan Moore shop.
