The Legend
Once upon a time Greg Davis, Luke Batton, Jeff Grimes and former Schenectady resident Joshua Baker decided to invoke the dark spirit of old-timey music in their Northern California home and embark on that classic doomed venture… a band. As with all bands the end eventually came. Other bands had occurred… Yellow No. 5, Sawhorse, Things I Hate, God Hates Computers, and most recently Chased and Smashed… Somehow Joshua kept coming back to that special invocation called the Broken Seats. At some point I dragged them into a recording studio in Oakland. Luke couldn’t make it, so Ne’er Do Well Jess Hilliard graciously substituted on the washtub bass. Listen for the results here on this website and on some form of music-bearing plastic in the future.
